GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man who was caught on camera stealing over $10,000 worth of merchandise from an eyeglass store in Montgomery County.
On Wednesday, at 2 p.m., officers responded to LensCrafters in the 900 block of Rose Avenue for the report of a theft. An investigation revealed that an unknown man walked into the store, posed as a customer, and stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise, totaling over $10,000, before running. Police were able to obtain surveillance video of the man and are now asking for the public's help in identifying him.
Police describe the suspect as a man, approximately 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall, last seen wearing a black Nike baseball cap, black t-shirt with a red logo on the left chest, black sweatpants and black and white sneakers.
Anyone with information on the man seen on surveillance video is asked to visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County, MD website at www.crimesolversmcmd.org or call 1-866-411-8477. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspects. Tips may remain anonymous.
