FREDERICK, Md. — A building in Maryland was engulfed in flames Saturday afternoon, with 120 firefighters called to the scene in Frederick.
At around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, Frederick County Fire and Rescue arrived to what they call a historic building in the 100 block of S. Carroll Street. Conditions rapidly worsened, eventually becoming a 3-alarm fire.
It took firefighters about 90 minutes to get the fire under control, and an additional two hours to fully extinguish hotspots.
The building was connected by an elevated walkway to another building across the street, but fire did not spread to other buildings, officials said. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and no civilians were hurt.
The building, which housed an antique store and an apartment, was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to officials.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, and officials are investigating.
