Fiancé of man missing in St. Mary's County says she is 'keeping the faith'

The search continues for 56-year-old Gil McDonald.

ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. — Gil McDonald went missing from St. Mary's County after his car broke down on the side of the road. That was Oct. 28. Friends, family and authorities haven't heard from him since. Loved ones, including his fiancé, Shelli Woods, are hoping someone has information that can help find him. 

"I feel like he's out there and doesn't know where he's at. He's confused and disoriented. He hasn't had his medication in five weeks," Woods said. 

McDonald, 56, was driving near Point Lookout in St. Mary's County when he got stuck in the sand. He called Woods who called a tow truck. But when the tow truck got there, Gil was gone. 

"They've had K9s out – they've had drones. DNR [Department of Natural Resources], they've done another wide grid search. They've turned up nothing," Woods said.

St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office investigators have been out to search for McDonald several times. Family and friends have also been searching on foot, and getting the word out on social media.

"In the morning, you wake up and you're hoping today is going to be the day someone spots him or brings him home. It's been torture. For me, his brother and mother. It's been hard," Woods said.

McDonald is nonverbal and requires medication He is described as 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes.

"I feel he's still alive. I just do," Woods said. "Until someone tells me different, I'm keeping the faith, praying."
