Car crash in Prince George's County leaves person trapped inside of their car

During the accident, a utility pole was knocked down, starting a fire in the woods nearby.

MARYLAND, USA — Crews with the Prince George’s County Fire Department were forced to use the jaws of life to get someone out of an overturned car.

On Thursday evening, Prince George's County Fire was dispatched to the 8700 block of Adelphi Road in College Park for a single-vehicle crash. When they arrived they found a car overturned and someone was trapped inside. 

During the crash, a utility pole was knocked down, and as a result, the power lines started a fire in the woods nearby. 

The person who was trapped in the car was eventually rescued and taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. At this time authorities have not released the identity of the victim or their current conditions. 

Officials are working to determine what caused the accident.
