4 people thrown from cars after crash in Laurel

Laurel Police are still investigating what led to the crash.

LAUREL, Md. — Four people are recovering in the hospital after a crash in Laurel Wednesday night. Laurel Police Department investigators are still working to figure out the exact details of the crash. 

According to a public information officer for the police department, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. near Montgomery Street and Route 1. Initially, police believe two vehicles were involved in the crash, and one of the cars struck a power pole. The department spokesperson told WUSA9 that three people were ejected from one car, and one person was ejected from the other.

"At this point what we know is that they should all be OK," the public information officer said. 

According to BGE's website, on Thursday morning, 53 customers were still without power due to the crash. It appears power has been restored to all customers affected by 7 a.m. Thursday.

The crash investigation is still in its early stages. Laurel Police were not able to say what led to the crash, or provide any identifying information about the people involved. The exact nature and severity of their injuries is not known. Their current conditions in the hospital is also not known.
