5 hurt in crash involving bus in Montgomery County

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

ASPEN HILL, Md. — A total of five people were hurt in a crash involving a passenger bus and a car in Montgomery County Sunday night. Police and firefighters were on scene investigating exactly what happened. 

The crash was first reported just before 8 p.m. near the intersection of Layhill Road and Bel Pre Road. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Pete Piringer reported some lanes were blocked because of the crash investigation Sunday night. 

According to Piringer, several people were taken to the hospital following the collision. Of the five people hurt, two people were on the bus, and three others were in the car. One of the people involved was 16 years old. The others were adults. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Additional details were not immediately available on Sunday.
