17-year-old boy shot, killed in Clinton shooting

Saturday’s shooting occurred on the 7900 block of Green Street in Clinton, Maryland just after 2:30 p.m.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Prince George’s County Police are investigating yet another homicide. This marks the third homicide and fifth shooting in the county within the last 24-hours.

Saturday’s shooting occurred on the 7900 block of Green Street in Clinton, Maryland just after 2:30 p.m. 

Investigators later identified the person killed as 17-year-old Mekai Johnson of Waldorf. 

Police are still working to find suspects in this case and identify a motive for the shooting.

The shooting Saturday marks the fifth in the past 24 hours in Prince George’s County. 

The first shooting happened Friday morning at 8 a.m. on Chillum Road. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 2:30 p.m. officers got a call of a double shooting along Indian Head Highway. Both victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Less than two hours later,  a second double shooting happened at Old Fort Hills Park. One person was found dead and the second was transported to the hospital. As of now, we do not know their current condition.

And just before 9:15 p.m., there were calls for a third double shooting. Two women were found in the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive. 

Police have not released any suspect information at this time for either shootings. Authorities do not believe these shootings are connected.
