DC Police searching for the shooter that killed a teenager and injured another

Sadly, one of the teen’s injuries was far more severe than the other. 14-year-old Niko Estep, died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are investigating a shooting that left a teenage boy dead early Saturday morning.  This incident is the latest in a series of deadly shootings that have taken place in the Washington metro over the weekend. 

Officers responded to the 1400 block of Fairmont Street, NW after reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found two teen boys suffering from gunshot wounds.  First responders provided medical attention to both teens once on the scene. 

The two teens were quickly transported to the nearest hospital. During which time, both teens were conscious and breathing. Sadly, one of the teen’s injuries was far more severe than the other. 14-year-old Niko Estep, died shortly after arriving at the hospital. 

Reports say the second teen’s injuries were not life-threatening. His condition, at this time, is not clear.  

Now, D.C. Police are working to piece together the incidents leading up to the shooting. 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
