Police arrest man for shooting in Southwest DC

On August 1, MPD responded to Forrester Street around 10:30 p.m. for the sounds of gunshots. When officers arrived they found Gibson with a gunshot wound.

WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police have arrested a man in connection to a homicide in Southwest. 

On Friday, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 33-year-old Irv Duff Jr, who was charged with the death of 26-year-old Darnell Gibson

On August 1, MPD responded to Forrester Street around 10:30 p.m. for the sounds of gunshots. When officers arrived they found Gibson with a gunshot wound unconscious and not breathing. 

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services attempted life-saving measures but found no signs consistent with life. Gibson remained on the scene until he was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. 

Duff Jr. has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed. 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.
