Police investigating deadly Southeast DC shooting

There is no word on any possible motive or what may have happened in the moments leading up to the deadly shooting.

WASHINGTON — Police are searching for answers after a shooting in Southeast D.C. left a man dead Monday night.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to Valley Place Southeast, off of Pleasant Street Southeast, just after 9:20 p.m. after a report of a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. At the time, he was unconscious and not breathing.

DC Police have confirmed to WUSA9 that the man has since died due to his injuries. The man's identity has not been released, this includes his age, name, and where he is from.

There is no word on any possible motive or what may have happened in the moments leading up to the deadly shooting. No suspect description has been released at this time. 

As of Nov. 13, the District surpassed 240 homicides for the year, according to MPD crime stats. This marks the 242th homicide for D.C., after one in Southeast and another in Northeast reported on Monday.

Anyone with information may contact detectives by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting the department's tip line at 50411. MPD officers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
