Gunman opened fire on people trying to exchange insurance information following DC crash, police say

A third person who was uninvolved in the crash was also hit by the gunfire.

WASHINGTON — A Maryland man is facing charges after allegedly shooting two people after a crash in what police are calling a road rage incident.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the crash happened in the 900 block of Division Avenue in Northeast D.C. on Aug. 16.

Following the crash, police say the victims were trying to exchange insurance information with the suspect when he took out a gun and bashed one of the victims in the head. He then reportedly began shooting, hitting the second victim.

A third person who was uninvolved in the crash was also hit by the gunfire.

More than two months after the crash, 31-year-old Marquez Delonte Beasley, of Temple Hills, Maryland, was arrested on Monday. He has since been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

Anyone with information may contact detectives at (202) 727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
