Police: 25-year-old son allegedly fatally shoots father in Olney, Maryland

Police said Nicholas Stull was charged with first-degree murder, first and second-degree assault and use of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

OLNEY, Md. — Montgomery County police are investigating a "domestic-related homicide" in Olney Saturday night.

According to police, officers initially responded to the 4500 block of Mount Olney Lane for a shooting at 8:24 p.m. 

When police arrived at the scene, they learned that Nicholas Stull, 25, was possibly armed inside a residence with his grandparents. Police learned that Michael Wayne Stull, 57, the suspect's father, was shot and inside the house.

Montgomery County's Special Weapons and Tactical Team (SWAT) later arrived and entered the home and the younger Stull was taken into custody.

Stull's father was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. Nicholas Stull was transported to the hospital and had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said it was non-life-threatening.
