WASHINGTON — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are still searching for the man who stole a University of District of Columbia Police patrol car last week.
On Friday, November 10, law enforcement received a call at 3:45 a.m. that a police cruiser belonging to the University of the District of Columbia had been taken from the Van Ness campus.
According to the police report, the car was left unlocked with the keys inside, which is how the thief was able to gain access. The stolen 2020 Ford Explorer was recovered a few hours later, perfectly parallel parked along North Capitol Street in Northwest.
Now the FBI and MPD are searching for the man believed to be the thief. The agencies released newly updated surveillance photos and videos.
Anyone who can identify this suspect or who has any information about this incident should take no action but to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's text tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
