Maryland man charged with premeditated first-degree murder of Daniel Lamont Adams

On Thursday, police arrested 40-year-old Andre Hicks, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, in connection to Daniel Lamont Adams's death.

WASHINGTON — A Capitol Heights man is facing charges connected to the shooting death of 34-year-old Daniel Lamont Adams

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 1300 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast, shortly before 9:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023. 

When officers arrived, they found a man being treated by DC Fire and EMS for gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

The man killed has since been identified as 34-year-old Daniel Lamont Adams. Police believe he was shot half a mile away in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast. 

On Thursday, police arrested 40-year-old Andre Hicks, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, in connection to Adams's death. He has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder while armed. 

It is unclear how Hicks and Adams may have known each other and there is no word on any possible motive at this time.
