WASHINGTON — The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a man was shot to death in the Brentwood neighborhood of Northeast D.C. on Thursday.
Around 1:40 p.m., officers were called to the scene of a shooting in the 1400 block of Downing Street, Northeast. When the responding officers got to the scene, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds who was not conscious or breathing at the time.
He was taken to an area hospital where he later died.
Police identified the man Friday as 21-year-old Carlos Haythe, of Northeast, D.C.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
