WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating a robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Northwest. Officers were called to the 3000 block of 14th Street Northwest just after noon on Tuesday for a report of a robbery.
When they arrived, they found the robbery involved a fire extinguisher. This would be the fifth such robbery of 7-Eleven stores across D.C. since April 15. In one such heist, a person was caught on camera spraying the clerk with the fire extinguisher and taking off with the cash register's till.
Police are investigating fire extinguisher robberies at the following locations:
- 7-Eleven on Hawaii Avenue NE Monday, April 15
- 7-Eleven on 3rd Street NE Wednesday, April 17
- 7-Eleven on Columbia Road NW Thursday, April 18
- 7-Eleven on Annapolis Road in New Carrollton, Maryland on Sunday, April 20
- 7- Eleven 14th Street NW Tuesday, April 24
While the robberies are carried out in similar ways, leading police to focus on a specific suspect who they say is targeting convenience stores. So far, the suspect has been connected to four of the five robberies. The only one DC Police have not said he is wanted for is the one that happened in New Carrollton, Maryland.
DC Police released photos and videos of the suspect captured by surveillance cameras
Police are looking for a grey or silver vehicle in relation to Tuesday's robbery. Anyone who may have information about this robbery, or any of the other 7-Eleven robberies, is asked to contact police at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
