WASHINGTON — A robber used a fire extinguisher to help get away with money from a Northeast D.C. convenience store overnight.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 7-Eleven, located at 5210 3rd Street Northeast, after receiving a 12:45 a.m. call on Wednesday about a robbery. They learned that a person entered the store and sprayed the cashier, as well as a customer, with a fire extinguisher.
The person then took off with the till from the register. No information has been released about the amount of money that was in the till at the time of the crime.
The cashier and customer were not injured in the robbery. Police say no one is in custody for the crime, but surveillance images have been released of the suspect in the case.
Police say the person captured on camera stealing is the same person who entered a convenience store in the 300 block of Hawaii Avenue Northeast Monday morning, grabbed items, and then headed to the counter. He then grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed the clerk before stealing the cash register and other items.
Anyone who can identify this suspect or has any information about these incidents should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
