WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Woodbridge man is facing a slew of charges including child neglect for a road rage incident that happened Sunday evening.
Prince William County Police responded to the area of Old Delaney Road, near Quate Lane around 7 p.m. to investigate on Sunday. A 19-year-old man told police he was involved in a road rage incident with another driver. The other driver was later identified as 43-year-old Douglas Ernesto Benavides.
Investigators learned that while both vehicles were stopped on Old Delaney Road, Benavides approached the younger driver waving a machete. Benavides drove away and the other driver called police.
Officers found Benavides a short time later at a nearby home. Police reportedly determined he was drunk. Further investigation found that his 2-year-old daughter was in the car at the time.
Benavides was charged with felony child neglect, brandishing a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, DUI and driving on a revoked license. He is being held without bond, according to authorities.
