CALVERT COUNTY, Md. — A Maryland man is under arrest for his alleged role in a road rage shooting in Huntingtown.
David Earl Bustin, 66, was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center and charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment, police say.
On April 27, around 10 a.m., deputies responded to a shooting near the intersection of Hardesty Road and Foxfire Lane in Huntingtown.
Investigators say two cyclists participating in a charity "End Hunger" Bike Rid were riding their bicycles on Hardesty Road when a man driving a pickup truck behind them lost it. Police say the driver, later identified as Bustin, swerved around the cyclists in an attempt to run them off the road. Bustin continued driving down Hardesty Road when he reportedly pulled into a driveway, got a shotgun, and fired three shots at the cyclists.
Bustin was taken into custody by police shortly after.
Detectives later found three shotgun shells and a Winchester Model 1300 shotgun during a search of the nearby area.
Bustin was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was arrested and charged in connection to the road rage shooting.
