WOODBRIDGE, Va. — The Prince William County Police Department is seeking more information on a decades-old murder case. Police say Melvin Leroy Deans was found shot to death in Woodbridge back in 1973.

According to investigators, Deans was last seen leaving the Druscilla Hotel in Triangle for work on Dec. 27, 1973. His body was found a little more than a week later in a wooded area near the dead end of Oregon Avenue in Woodbridge a short while later. An autopsy revealed he died from gunshot wounds.

At the time, police were unable to identify any suspects or persons of interest in the case.

Now, 50 years later, police are looking at the case again and asking anyone who knows anything to step forward.

If you have any information, you may contact detectives at (703) 792-7000.
