OLNEY, Md. — Four people, including a 16-year-old, are facing charges after police say they killed an 18-year-old woman and left her buried in a shallow grave in Olney.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, 18-year-old Rosa Sanchez Merino was killed and buried in a shallow grave on May 1. While police have not said how Sanchez Merino died, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled her death a homicide.
Four people have been arrested in connection to the 18-year-old woman's death. Those people have been identified as 23-year-old Roberto Carlos Rivera-Delgado, 23-year-old Iris Yudella Alonzo-Salgado, 21-year-old Aracely Abarca-Melgar and 16-year-old Edwin Alexander Rivas-Salvador – who is being charged as an adult.
Rivera-Delgado was arrested for a parole violation in Nevada and extradited to Maryland in September. The 23-year-old reportedly led detectives to the shallow grave where Sanchez Merino was left for dead on October 1.
All four suspects are being charged with first-degree murder. All four have been taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where they are being held without bond.
