Police report triple shooting in District Heights

The Prince George's County Police is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. — Three people were shot in District Heights Friday afternoon, police say. 

A 14-year-old girl, a woman and a man were reportedly suffering from gunshot wounds when police responded to Woodland Springs Apartments on Atwood Street just before 2 p.m. 

The teenager's wounds are said to be life threatening. 

According to District Heights Police, the teenager and the woman were inside the building when gunshots came in through a window. The man who was reportedly outside when he was struck by gunfire. The victims' identities have not been released. 

It is not yet known how many shots were fired, how many parties are involved, what the motive for the shooting was or if the victims knew each other.

Prince George's County Police are assisting in this ongoing investigation, and officials condemned the "senseless" and "cowardly" act of violence in a press conference Friday. 

District Heights Vice Mayor Xander Harcourt spoke directly to the gunman, "You have brought terror to our community." 

Saturday's District Heights Day event is still on, according to officials.
