DC man charged with murder of 19-year-old found dead in park

Police say the victim and suspect knew each other.

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. — Police have a charged a D.C. man in connection to a recent murder in Fort Washington.

Monte Brown, 45, faces first and second-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing 19-year-old David Frye of Washington, D.C. Frye was found dead in Tantallon Park in Fort Washington.

On May 15, just before 7 a.m., officers responded to the park on Autumnwood Lane for a report of an unconscious man. Officers found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Detectives eventually identified Brown as the suspect. He was taken into custody Thursday. 

Police say Brown and Frye knew each other. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Brown is being held without bond on the murder charges.
