WASHINGTON — D.C. Police is investigating a shooting that left six people hurt in Southeast D.C. over the weekend.
On Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Minnesota Ave around 6:15 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they arrived they located two men suffering gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Their current conditions are unknown.
Later that same day a teen girl and man walked into a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds from the same shooting incident along Minnesota Ave. Officials say the teen was struck in the hand. Additionally, police say another man and two other teenage boys were treated for gunshot wounds at local hospitals.
During the investigation, an MPD officer was responding to the shooting and got into a car accident a few blocks away from the scene at Minnesota and Pennsylvania Avenue. DC Fire and EMS had to extricate the officer from his car and take him to a local hospital. The officer sustained non-life threatening injuries. It is unclear if there were passengers in the car he crashed into.
On Monday, police released surveillance images of a car they are looking for in connection to the shooting.
Anyone who recognizes the car, or has information to help investigators, is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
