'He was crawling, his face was all bloody'| Witnesses say a man was shot outside a pool party in Prince George's County

Witnesses tell WUSA9's Katie Lusso that the shooting happened just outside a pool party.

GLENN DALE, Md. β€” Police are investigating after a man was shot in Glenn Dale, Maryland on Wednesday.

Witnesses told WUSA9 it happened right outside a pool party, at a home on Glenn Dale Road, near the intersection of Glenndale Oaks Way.

Prince George's County Police say they started getting calls around 7 p.m. on Wednesday and arrived to find a man who had been shot.

Police told WUSA9 Wednesday night, that he was expected to survive.

"He was crawling his face was all bloody so I was like oh something happened," said one man who told WUSA9 he was at the pool party when gunfire erupted outside.

"They like 'oh he shot, he shot, he shot.' So, I'm like bet. So you know me I'm a firefighter so I go over and do life saving measures. So I run over. We take his shirt off, his pants off," he told WUSA9.

He says he and his friend applied pressure to the man's arm where he was shot.

"They said 'oh he's hit in the head too,' so we look a the head and what you know, he was hit in the head or at least we think he was," he said.

Another man who was at the party told WUSA9 there had been a fight shortly before the shooting.

"Out of nowhere a fight broke out the first time and then after the fight, there was a whole bunch of altercations. They kicked the guys out. I seen the demeanor I already knew they were about to bake somebody's potatoes," he told WUSA9.

Neighbors told WUSA9 they heard close to 10 gunshots.

"We knew that somebody got shot it wasn't like 'what was that?' It was like somebody definitely got shot," said Reynold Walbrook.

He told WUSA9 he had just walked to his front door when he heard the gunfire.

"Within 30 seconds, there was a round of shots like 'pop, pop, pop, pop, pop' and you seen him running across and you could see he was bloodied," said Walbrook.

He says within minutes there were people running to their cars and police on the scene.

"I've been here over 20 years this is really a safe neighborhood but, we have to suffer the effects of what's happening outside our neighborhood and that's what's really the problem," he said.

Police have not given any kind of suspect description, or details about what lead up to the shooting.
