PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — A Virginia man has been arrested for a February road rage incident in Prince George's County. Joshua Cook, 34, from Fairfax County was arrested at home by Virginia State Police on Thursday.
On Feb. 2, Maryland State Police troopers responded to a report of a road rage involving a Ford F-150. Dashcam footage apparently showed the driver of the pickup truck pointing a gun at another driver near I-95 and Route 1 in Prince George's County.
Police used the dashcam footage to identify Cook as a suspect.
Cook has been charged with felony assault, firearms offenses and related charges. He appeared in court in Fairfax County on Tuesday for his arraignment and was released by a judge. An extradition hearing was scheduled for next month.
The arrest is at least the second this month for drivers accused of pointing guns on Maryland roads. On Sept. 12, Maryland State Police arrested 37-year-old Brittany Cousar, of Upper Marlboro, on two counts of first-degree felony assault for allegedly pointing a gun at another driver near Route 5 and Surratts Road. Police said a child was in the victim's car at the time.
Police said they later discovered the SUV believed to have been involved in that incident in Cousar's home, along with two loaded handguns inside. The firearms were seized as part of the investigation.
Maryland State Police said they will continue to search for information on Delonte Hicks, Charles Marks and Nyah Hairston. All three were killed in road rage incidents in the state.
According to Maryland court records, Cousar was released to home detention on Sept. 16. She was due to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 11.
