CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Man wanted in connection to deadly DC shooting

A 49-year-old man died a day after the shooting at an area hospital.

WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the public's help identifying a person wanted in connection to a deadly shooting in Northeast, D.C. after he was caught on surveillance camera.

On Saturday, just after 5:30 p.m., officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting on Minnesota Avenue. Once there, officers found a man who had been shot. He was not concious or breathing at the time. DC Fire and EMS took the man to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries the following day.

The victim was identified as 49-year-old Michael Simpson of Northeast, D.C.

A suspect wanted in connection to the shooting was caught on surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos below:

Police have not said what led up to the shooting or if the victim and suspect were known to one another. 

The investigation into the shooting death is active and ongoing. 

Anyone who has knowledge of this shooting should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
