MERRIFIELD, Va. — A 43-year-old Falls Church man was indicted by a grand jury Monday in connection to a deadly Virginia hotel shooting that happened in November 2023.
According to Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano, Hiep Van Vo was indicted on second-degree murder charges for the death of 44-year-old Charles Ashe, Jr.
The shooting was reported just before 1 a.m. at the Falls Church Marriott Fairview in Merrifield. Officers say they found Ashe shot near the elevators. Firefighters were at the hotel on an unrelated call and were able to take Ashe to an area hospital for help, where he died.
Detectives told WUSA9 in November 2023, that Ashe and Vo knew each other. They claimed Ashe walked into Vo's hotel room that night before Vo shot Ashe with four other people in the room.
Investigators arrested Vo the next day in Gaithersburg, Maryland. In addition to the murder charge, a grand jury indicted Vo on two weapons charges.
Vo's scheduled to appear in court again on May 23.
