WASHINGTON — Police say a man has died at an area hospital following a shooting early Tuesday morning outside L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station.
Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to the reported shooting on Tuesday in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue, Southwest.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds at the bus stop.
The man was rushed to an area hospital after the shooting where he was pronounced dead. The entrance to the Metro station remained closed for investigation Tuesday morning, but has since reopened.
The victim was identified Friday as 27-year-old Tyvez Monroe of no fixed address. His death was the 270th homicide in D.C. this year.
The suspect was captured by nearby surveillance cameras.
Police located and arrested the suspect on Thursday. He's identified as 36-year-old Deonte Vondell Spicer of Northwest, DC. He was taken to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with first degree murder while armed.
