Man dead in Southeast DC shooting

Police are still investigating after a violent night across the District.

WASHINGTON — A man has died from an early morning shooting Thursday in Southeast D.C. Police say it happened around 1:45 a.m. in the area of First and Atlantic Streets, but offered very few details beyond that.

Officers were called to the area for a shooting and found a man unresponsive. First responders, took the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim has since been identified as 36-year-old Calvin Moore.

So far, no arrests have been made, and police have not provided a description of the person or people responsible. The circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting are not known.

About 15 minutes after this shooting, DC Police officers in Northwest D.C. were called to the 1400 block of Park Road Northwest for another shooting report. A woman was found shot, but police say she was conscious and breathing when she was taken to the hospital for treatment. She is expected to be OK, and police described her injuries as not life-threatening. A second woman, a passenger, was also injured in the shooting by shattered glass. She is expected to survive.

On Thursday night, police released a photo of a person believed to be connected to the Park Road shooting.

These two shootings add to an overall violent night in the District. DC Police investigators also responded to a pair of shootings Tuesday that left a total of six people shot and one dead. In both of those cases, detectives are searching for a silver Jeep Cherokee.
