TEMPLE HILLS, Md. — Weeks after a 6-year-old boy was shot to death at a July Fourth celebration, the Prince George's County Police chief says investigators know who pulled the trigger.
Ahsan Payton was among the people shot at the Fourth of July party on Akron Street. The 6-year-old died two days later. Two adults were also wounded in the shooting.
Over two weeks later, no arrests have been made in Ahsan's death. However, PGPD Chief Malik Aziz told county councilmembers on a podcast Monday that an arrest is in the works.
"We are working on, I would say a great and promising lead, and here is it right here: We know the person who did it," said Aziz on the Council Conversations Podcast. "And we're going to arrest him. We're working with some partners to bring that person to justice."
There is currently a $25,000 reward available for information leading to the shooter's arrest. Anyone who knows anything should contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS
