WASHINGTON — Police say a man is awaiting extradition to the nation's capital for his alleged involvement in a deadly shooting back in September in Southeast. Darrick Miles, 43, was arrested in Henderson, North Carolina on Wednesday.
At 1:45 p.m. on Sept. 1, officers responded to the 5100 block of Astor Place in Southeast, D.C. for a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers found a man who had been shot. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, pronounced the man dead. He remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination.
Police say the victim of this shooting was identified as 32-year-old Mannin Quarles, of Southeast, DC.
On Wednesday, after an arrest warrant was issued, members of the Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Miles in Henderson. He was wanted on charges of second-degree murder while armed.
Miles will go through the extradition process and will be returned to Washington, D.C, where he will be formally charged, police say.
