WASHINGTON — Two men are in custody for their alleged involved in a shooting back in August in Northwest D.C. that left three people dead.
DC Police say Renza Bryant, 37, of Northwest, D.C., and 34-year-old Jalonte Thompkins, of Northeast, D.C. waived their right to an extradition hearing after officers found and arrested the pair in Fort Washington, Maryland on Tuesday. Both were charged with first-degree murder while armed.
On Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1:01 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Ontario Road, Northwest, for a shooting. At the scene, officers found three men who had been shot. Two of the men died at the scene. Detectives identified them as 34-year-old James Morgan and 30-year-old Jamal Morgan, both of Southeast, D.C.
Police say the remaining victim was taken to an area hospital where he died just two days later on Aug. 7. He was identified as 42-year-old Vincent Martin, of Southeast, D.C.
On Tuesday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) located and arrested both Bryant and Thompkins for their alleged involvement in the murders. The pair waived their right to an extradition hearing and were taken to DC Police's Homicide Branch, where they were charged with first-degree murder
