Former teacher, who allegedly sexually assaulted a student in 2014, arrested at BWI while attempting to flee

Mark Anthony Williams was caught attempting to leave the country at the Baltimore Washington International Airport.

WASHINGTON — A former DCPS teacher, who moved out of the country, has been arrested for sexually abusing a student in 2014, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Police say that between Jan. 1, 2014 and May 31, 2014, Mark Anthony Williams, 56, was involved in sexual acts with a minor. The police department started an investigation into the allegations, but during the investigation, it was determined that Williams had moved out of the country.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, DC Police were told Williams, of Fairfax, Virginia, was back in the U.S. The next day, the DC Superior Court issued an arrest warrant for him.

On Sunday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency at Baltimore Washington International Airport arrested Williams as he was attempting to flee the country again. He has been charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a secondary education student, police said. He awaits extradition to D.C. from Maryland.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s tip line by sending a text message to 50411.
