STERLING, Va. — Additional charges have been brought against a man who police say robbed a Sports Nation store in Dulles Town Center Mall where he was employed, not once but twice. The second robbery occurred just days after the man was released on bond.
Fawad Fafa, 44, of Reston, also faces charges for filing a false stabbing report.
On Nov. 10, Fafa filed a report with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office claiming to be the victim of a stabbing in the parking lot of Dulles Town Center Mall in Sterling. Fafa told police that as he was leaving the mall and got into his car, two men wearing masks walked up to him and stabbed him before fleeing. Fafa said they drove off in a dark-colored, four-door sedan.
After a thorough investigation, detectives determined that the stabbing was made up and that Fafa had injured himself.
In addition, on Nov. 8, Fafa, an employee of the Sports Nation store reported an overnight robbery. After conducting an investigation, detectives determined that Fafa had broken in himself and stolen money from the store.
On Dec. 15, Fafa was arrested and charged with two counts of filing a false police report and embezzlement. He was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center where he was released a day later on a $1,500 bond.
Three days after being released, on Dec. 19, Fafa entered the Sports Nation store in Dulles Town Center Mall again and took money from the cash register. Additional charges were brought against him for burglary and embezzlement. He was arrested by the Fairfax County Police Department and is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office charges.
