Another winter coat robbery reported in DC at Petworth Metro

This is the latest instance of suspects targeting victims for their winter coats.

WASHINGTON — An investigation is underway at a Metro station in Northwest, D.C. after a victim was robbed of their Canada Goose jacket on Wednesday.

At 6 p.m., officers with the Metropolitan Police Department say a suspect approached a victim heading down an escalator at the Georgia Ave.-Petworth Metro Station. The suspect pulled out a gun and robbed the person of their winter jacket. The suspect then fled the scene.

The investigation into this theft is active and ongoing.

This comes after another D.C. resident was robbed of their coat, also a Canada Goose, on Dec. 12 on 41st Street. The robber told the victim in that case, "Give me the coat or I’m gonna kill you,” according to the police report.

And another robbery of Canada Goose jackets was reported earlier in the year in February on T Street, Northwest.

Anyone with more information on either robbery is asked to call MPD at 202-727-9099. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous should text 50411. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
