FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — A man accused of trying to abduct a young girl from the Fredericksburg Fairgrounds is currently being held without bond.
On Sunday, May 19, at 4 p.m., a Fredericksburg Sheriff's deputy contacted the Fredericksburg Police Department to report an attempted abduction of a 5-year-old girl. The deputy told officers he was working an event at the fairgrounds whenwoman came and told him she had seen a man attempt to take a young girl into the men's restroom. Officers and a detective responded to the fairgrounds to investigate. After talking with the girl's family, officers learned they did not know the man.
Witnesses were able to describe him, and from their description, officers identified Francisco Gerardo Amaya Sosa, 46, of Stafford County as the alleged suspect.
Officers arrested Amaya Sosa and charged him with abduction. Police say he is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
