WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A 17-year-old is facing charges after police say he attempted to abduct a woman in Woodbridge. The woman got away with the help of a good Samaritan.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers were called to the area of Andover Heights Dr. and Powells Crossing Ct. shortly before 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Investigators say a 35-year-old woman was grabbed from behind by a stranger, who has since been identified only as a 17-year-old teen. During the reported abduction attempt, the teen tried to stab the woman multiple times with a pen.

A good Samaritan stepped in and helped the woman get away unharmed, according to police.

The teenage suspect was taken into custody a short distance away. He has been charged with attempted malicious wounding and attempted abduction and is being held at the juvenile detention center.
