Man arrested for series of church burglaries in Southeast DC, police say

Police say 28-year-old Sequan Olney was arrested and charged on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department have arrested a man for allegedly burglarizing churches in Southeast.

Police say 28-year-old Sequan Olney was arrested and charged on Wednesday with the below offenses:

  • Destruction of Property/Theft: On Sunday, November 19 at 10:04 a.m. in the 3000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
  • Burglary/ Destruction of Property: On Monday, November 20 at 6:49 a.m. in the 3000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
  •  Burglary: On Wednesday, November 22 at 2:09 a.m. in the 3000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE
  • Burglary/Destruction of Property: On Wednesday, December 6 at 3:33 a.m. in the 2400 block of Minnesota Avenue, SE. 

In each burglary, Olney is said to have forcibly entered the church and destroyed property before fleeing the scene.

On Wednesday, police arrested and charged Olney for his alleged involvement. 

The investigation into these church burglaries is active and ongoing.
