WASHINGTON — DC Police say a shootout in Southeast sent one person to the hospital. That person was subsequently arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon.
Police say it all started around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. A group of people got out of a car and opened fire on a person in the 2700 block of Langston Place. That person returned fire, and one person who exited the car was shot. That person had non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The other people involved in the shootout left the scene on foot, and police are still looking for them. The suspect vehicle was recovered, and three guns were found inside.
Dervell Nettles, 31, of Northeast D.C. was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police are still working to learn what led up to the shooting.
