DC Police search for suspects who shot person during attempted robbery

The group left the scene in a dark-colored SUV that was caught on surveillance camera.

WASHINGTON — Police in D.C. are searching for suspects wanted for a shooting in Northeast over the weekend. According to investigators, the shooting happened in the 1200 of H Street just before 4 a.m. on Saturday.

Two people were getting in a car when multiple people, one armed with a gun, approached them, police said. The group tried to rob the two people. One of them tried to run away and was shot. According to police, the person shot was hospitalized with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. 

The group of three or four people left the scene in a dark colored SUV. Police did not provide tag information for the vehicle. However, the SUV was seen on surveillance cameras.

Police are asking for the public's help to find the car, and the people inside. Anyone who may have information that would help investigators is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099, or text the department's tip line at 50411.
