Man found dead inside SE DC apartment

Investigators say the 27-year-old was shot.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after finding a man shot to death inside a Southeast, D.C. apartment on Sunday.

Just before 3 p.m., officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a reported shooting on Stanton Road in Southeast. Once there, officers found a man dead inside an apartment. Investigators say he had been shot.

DC Fire and EMS also responded to the apartment and took the victim to an area hospital for help. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Investigators have identified the victim as 27-year-old Stephon Clemmons. 

Anyone who has knowledge of this death should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
