WASHINGTON — Police say a young man is in the hospital after a shooting in Northeast D.C. on Monday night. Detectives are searching for three people in connection to the case, but offered few details about who they are looking for.

According to investigators, officers with the Metropolitan Police Department were first called to the 500 block of 50th Street Northeast for the report of a shooting just before 9:30 p.m. That's not far from Kelly Miller Middle School. When officers got to the scene, they found a boy — only described by police as a juvenile male — had been shot.

The boy was taken to the hospital. Police said he was conscious and breathing at the time. His current condition is not known. So far no arrests have been made in this case. Police are on the lookout for three males, but did not have any further descriptions.

Police are still investigating exactly what led up to the shooting. Additional details were not immediately available.

Anyone who may have additional information about this case is asked to contact MPD at 202-727-9099, or text the department's tip line at 50411.
