Garden of Lights canceled Friday night after police pursuit

The Brookside Gardens holiday display closed after a police pursuit of a stolen vehicle nearby.

WHEATON-GLENMONT, Md. — The Garden of Lights, a holiday light display at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, was canceled on Friday night after police pursued a stolen vehicle in the area.

Police initiated the pursuit of a stolen vehicle at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Randolph Road at approximately 5:33 p.m., according to a spokesperson with the Montgomery County Police Department. The intersection is less than a mile away from the botanical garden.

A perimeter was set up, and the search for suspects continues.

Montgomery Parks posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Friday night's showing was canceled. Tickets will be refunded, according to the post.

The exhibit is open every night through Dec. 31, except on Dec. 24 and 25.

Tickets are $10 per person, age five and older, and are only available to purchase online at Eventbrite.com.
