FREDERICK, Maryland — A man is in custody for a long list of charges after assaulting two police officers in Frederick, Maryland, Tuesday night. The man faces several burglary charges, assault charges, resisting arrest and drug charges.

According to the Frederick Police Department, officers were called to the 1000 block of Heather Ridge Drive around 8 p.m. for a report of a domestic violence incident. When officers got there, they were told a man had left the area. Officers were given a description of the man, who was later identified as 36-year-old Marcus Deandre Taylor.

When the officers tracked Taylor down, he initially gave them a fake name before trying to run away again. Police say as he ran away, he assaulted two officers. EMS was called and both officers were taken to the hospital.

Back-up officers were eventually able to bring Taylor into custody. Taylor had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

One of the injured officers had a dislocated shoulder. The other injured officer had a broken thumb, police said.

"Because of Mr. Taylor's actions, these officers will be off the street for several weeks while they recover from their injuries. Thankfully we were able to take Taylor into custody quickly before he could injure anyone else," said Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando.
