1 dead, 2 hurt in laundromat shooting in Prince George's County

Police took two people into custody for the shooting, including a 17-year-old boy.

EDMONSTON, Md. — A Sunday night shootout outside a Edmonston, Maryland laundromat left one man dead and two people hospitalized. Police arrested two people for the crime on Monday, including a 17-year-old boy.

Officers with the Edmonston Police Department responded to a shooting call at a laundromat in the 4700 block of Kenilworth Avenue, which is not far from Elizabeth Seton High School, for a reported shooting around 6 p.m. The Edmonston Police Department is leading the investigation. When officers arrived they found one man dead. A woman was also found shot. Her injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

The man was pronounced dead inside the laundromat. He was later identified as 18-year-old Anibal Suazo of Lothian, Maryland.

One suspect, identified by police as 20-year-old Alex Delgado of Silver Spring, was also found shot inside the laundromat. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say a second suspect, took off from the business in a car. Police pursued the boy and he was eventually taken into custody. Police plan to charge him as an adult.

Investigators believe the two suspects targeted Suazo. They both assaulted him inside the laundromat. Then, Delgado pulled out a gun and shot Suazo and the woman inside the business. Suazo returned fire and struck Delgado.

The motive remains under investigation.

Both suspects are charged with first-degree murder and related charges, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
