Fight leads to stabbing on Metrobus Sunday

​Police say the stabbing happened on a 70 bus at noon near 5929 Georgia Avenue, NW.

WASHINGTON — Two men are in custody in connection to a fight and stabbing that occurred aboard a Metrobus in Northwest D.C. Sunday afternoon.

Police say the stabbing happened on a 70 bus at noon near 5929 Georgia Avenue, NW.

Investigators say DeAngelo Reed, 36, boarded the bus and after a verbal argument, assaulted Kelvin Kelly, 54. Kelly later stabbed Reed.

After the stabbing, police say Reed was rushed to an area hospital for help with non-life-threatening injuries to his head. He is being charged with assault for starting the fight. 

Kelly has been arrested for the stabbing.

Metro Transit Police have recovered the knife used in the crime.

The investigation into the fight and stabbing is active and ongoing.
