Driver kills woman in hit-and-run on Anacostia Drive

The woman was airlifted to a local hospital where the severity of her injuries continued to progress. According to officials, the woman died at the hospital Sunday.

WASHINGTON — Officers with the United States Park Police are searching for the driver responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in Southeast. 

Officers responded to Anacostia Drive, near the skating rink just before 9 p.m. Saturday for reports of a hit-and-run. When they arrived they found a woman in critical condition. 

The woman was airlifted to a local hospital where the severity of her injuries continued to progress. According to officials, the woman died at the hospital Sunday morning. 

The driver of the crash did not remain on the scene. Information regarding the identity of the woman is being withheld until next of kin are contacted.

Officers with USPP are asking anyone with information to contact the TIP LINE at 202-379-4877.
