DC Police search for escaped prisoner last seen in Southeast

WASHINGTON — D.C. Police are searching for an inmate who escaped from custody.

Police say 27-year-old Derrick Ross-Simms was being transported to a local hospital for treatment early Sunday morning. When Ross-Simms arrived to the hospital he escaped from officers and ran away. 

Ross-Simms was last scene in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. Police did not say what Ross-Simms was last wearing, but have released a photos of him.

Ross-Simms was previously arrested and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
