Police offer $25K reward for information on deadly assault of trans woman

Anee Roberson was assaulted and hit by a car earlier this month.

WASHINGTON — Homicide detectives are offering a reward to anyone who can provide information in the death of Anee Roberson.

Roberson, a transgender woman, was assaulted and hit by a car earlier this month. She died of her injuries at the hospital. So far, no arrests have been made.

Investigators say it happened in the 900 block U Street around 4 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.  The car that hit Roberson stayed at the scene and the driver was not involved in the initial assault, which police say caused Roberson to end up in the street. Police say her death is not being investigated as a hate crime.

Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
